Il Dr. Thorben Huth dell’Istituto di Patologia dell’Università di Heidelberg è il vincitore del premio Mia Neri Award 2021 della European Society of Human Genetics. Il Dr. Huth ha presentato uno studio sul carcinoma epatocellulare, dimostrando che la perdita di specifici geni localizzati sul braccio corto del cromosoma 8 è critica per lo sviluppo del tumore e delle sue metastasi e che la correzione mirata del difetto può portare allo sviluppo di un nuovo ed efficace approccio terapeutico.

Dr. Thorben Huth of the Insutute of Pathology of the University of Heidelberg is the winner of the 2021 Mia Neri Award. The award is given every year by the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) to a young investigator presentating a study in the field of oncology during the annual conference of the Society. Dr. Huth presented a study on hepatocellular carcinoma, demonstrating that loss of specific genes localized in the short arm of chromosome 8 is critical for the growth and metastasis of the tumor and that targeted correction of this defect may lead to the development of novel therapeutic approaches.
